Sept. 24

We are learning about codes and how they are used in communication!
So this week the kids learned how to decode Morse Code and Binary Code.

A while back I came across this helpful list of questions to ask your child after school when you want to get them talking, but all they say when you ask them how school was is "good."😉. I hope you find it helpful.

Critter Barn: We will be headed to the Critter Barn on Thursday afternoon. We will leave after eating lunch at school. The goal for this visit is to learn about the farm and animals from Mrs. Mary. Then we will return throughout the year, with our buddies, and spend the afternoon learning at the farm!

ORCHESTRA - Mr. Nester, our orchestra teacher, met with us today to introduce the idea of orchestra to the students.  Many of them are VERY excited!  A white note came home today with all the details.  You can also access that information here.

THINK! ENERGY - We have been selected to be part of a program called THINK! ENERGY on Thursday, Oct. 5 in the afternoon.  We will learn about preserving resources related to energy production in our community and homes.  As a part of this program, your child will receive a kit with energy saving devices that you can use in your home (it's got some pretty useful items in it - and it's free to you!).  This past Tuesday, I sent home a green consent form for you to peruse that allows your child to participate in this program.  You do have the option to opt out, but I really think you'll want your child to experience this.  Sign and return the form by Monday the 25th only if you do NOT want your child to participate.  If I do not receive a form from you, I will administer a kit to your child on Oct. 5.  Thank you!

We will be taking our first math test next week.  We will review in the classroom, and that review packet will come home with your child the day before the test if you'd like to check in with them at home that night.  Hopefully most of the students will not need any extra practice at home though, but it wouldn't hurt to check.  After the test is finished and corrected, it will be placed in your child's mailbox to go home.

Homework (reading and math minutes) continues to be due on Mondays, and library books should come back on Mondays.  Word Work tests are always first thing Friday morning.

This week Wednesday afternoon we will be taking buses over to the high school to participate in the Walk-a-thon.  Thank you so much for assisting your child in raising funds for this cause! We are looking forward to a fun-filled afternoon of celebration, grateful to all those who love us enough to donate!

Thank you for your continued support and prayers for our class as we yearn daily to let God be the guide in our classroom.  We truly feel his presence!
