We flew through our first week! Your child is learning the daily routines and settling in! It feels great to have a classroom buzzing with excitement, curiosity, and eagerness to learn new things about our great God and the world He has placed us in! Thank you for sharing your child with me each day! I'm going to try to keep this entry short and sweet with important things for you to note:

With September approaching, we will be practicing Psalm 8, our September Bible Memory. A copy for your fridge will came home today in their fish folder. Please try to practice this at home. Remember that we will recite this together various ways at school, but it would be great to have the practice at home as well. This passage is being done K-12 to create a passionate commitment to faith and development of the whole school body.

LUNCH HELPERS:
Many of you had an interest in helping during our Wednesday lunch time. Please use this link to sign up. I appreciate your volunteering SO MUCH!

FOLDERS:
*Fish folders came home today. The folders have some work from the week, note about decorating our folders, Bible Memory page, and parent night information (for those who missed). Please return these folders by Monday.

HOMEWORK:
*We are all busy settling in to new routines, from school to soccer practices, etc. so we will ease into the year together. I recognize that families are busy with Labor Day weekend plans as well, so we'll start Reading minutes, Math homework, and spelling the following week (9/4-9/7).

DECORATING OUR WRITING NOTEBOOKS

There are days when it is hard for a student to think of a writing topic or story. To help with this writer’s block, 3rd graders decorate their writer’s notebooks with pictures, Bible verses, and other small (flat) items. This collection represents your child, his/her interests, family, and special activities. When it seems like there is “nothing” to write about, this collection provides the student with an idea.

We would like to start decorating our covers on MONDAY, August 27.  Please send the pictures, verses, and topic ideas to school with your child before or on Monday. Let me know if you have ANY questions!

BATONS:
*Please remember that Batons are due by Weds. Aug. 29. We will have a special convocation chapel at the high school gym at 9:00am on Weds., Aug 29. Parents and family are welcome to join us!

*THANK YOU for your love, prayers, classroom donations, and support as we begin this new school year together! I am blessed to spend each day with your child!
