Monday, Dec. 13

Rooted in Education Award: This week, I was gifted with an award from Lake Michigan Credit Union! Silas Haan reached out with a nomination for the bank's "Rooted In Innovative Education" Award. I was awarded with $1,000.00 to use in the classroom and further my education as a teacher! I am speechless and beyond excited! I see this award as a reminded from God that He equips His children to do great things for His Kingdom. To love the Lord with all my heart, soul, mind, and strength...and to love your children as Christ loves me!https://www.lmcu.org/.../community-relations/teacher-grant/

Enjoying our Winn-Dixie party on Monday!
We celebrated just like the characters in the book.

In the book, the characters throw a party with dog pictures and pink streamers as decorations! I thought we could add that to our classroom as well.

We had great success in building our Gingerbread houses this past Wednesday. I was very impressed with the students' careful work. They took their time and invested time into their designs. The houses turned out GREAT!
Thank you for your donations towards this project.

Monday, Dec. 6

"Ms. Snoeyink said we could bring in Christmas stuff!" - IN preparation for the Christmas season, the students and I thought it would be fun to each bring in a Christmas decoration from home. This item could be an ornament, lights, a little tree, a snowman sticker...whatever is "extra" at home and will not be missed. The students and I will decorate the classroom on MONDAY, Dec. 6.

Because of Winn Dixie Party - The students and I have been reading Kate DiCamillo's book Because of Winn Dixie. This story is incredible and ignites the student's love for reading. The book talks about friendship, acceptance, and loving those who need the love of Jesus. We will finish the book this week and I would love to let the students watch the movie in class. The movie is rated PG. The word "idiot" and "stupid" are mentioned once in the movie. Please let me know if you have any concerns about this movie. We will be watching this movie on Monday, Dec. 6.

Gingerbread Houses - On Wednesday afternoon, December 8, from 1:30 to 3:00, the third graders will be putting together gingerbread houses. We are excited about this annual Christmas project. Children will be taking home a gingerbread house of their very own. We are looking for as many volunteers as we can get to help with the construction. Because volunteers will be assisting small groups of students, we are asking that NO younger siblings be taken along. Thank you for understanding. As the day approaches, please let me know if you are willing and able to help with construction. Please let me know via email, note, or text so that I can plan on your help.

Here are some decorations we are in need of! Please sign up if you are able to bring items for our Gingerbread Houses.

Christmas Tea Lunch Coverage - Each year around Christmas time, we invite the teachers and staff to take a break from their day and enjoy a nice lunch, provided to them by our wonderful Rose Park families. Please help us out by signing up for something in the link below. Anything contributed is greatly appreciated! Please ensure whatever you sign up for is delivered to school the morning of December 9. If it needs to stay hot please plan a way to do so or deliver by 11:00 am. Thank you!

A note from the Art room - Has your student brought home their paint shirt?  If so, would you please send one along another one for their time in art?  Thank you!

Kindergarten Cookie Sale - On Thursday, December 9 at 10am in the intersection, is our annual kindergarten cookie sale!  Each cookie will be .50!  We are SO excited about this event!  All money raised will go to Tent Schools International to help with Syrian refugee children.

Christmas Service Project - We will be collecting items to go in care packages for US military troops deployed overseas. Items needed are listed on the green paper that was sent home. You can also find the list on the previous blog post. Glass and aerosol containers are not allowed. We will be collecting these UNWRAPPED from Nov. 15-Dec. 13. Thank you for your contributions.

Classroom Christmas Party - We will have our Christmas Party on Wednesday, Dec. 15th from 1:15-2:45. We will NOT be trading presents, but instead playing games and doing some activities. I am looking for 2 more parent/grandparent helpers to lead a station for 5 students. I have the games and activities prepared, and just need a helper to lead the station. If you are available to help, please email me and let me know.
