CHRISTMAS GIVING:

This year for our Christmas service project, we are excited to give a gift that is out of the ordinary:  the gift of TIME.  We will be visiting three homes that are part of the My Brother's House and My Sister's House program organized by the Holland Deacon's Conference.  These homes house adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, who still function at a level where they are able to get out and work in the community, but are not able to live alone.  A short description is provided on the Holland Deacon's Conference website if you would like to read more.

Our service to them will be bringing gifts of items they need in their homes on a daily basis (see the list below).  If you are able, please purchase what you wish from the list, and send it to school with your 4th grader.  We will collect these items in our classroom so we can take them along with us when we visit.

Most importantly, we plan to spend some TIME with the residents of the homes playing games and engaging in activities together while we are there.  We feel that one of the biggest gifts we can give them is our time and fellowship. We are certain that God will bless the residents through us, and that we may also leave there feeling blessed in return.

We plan to visit the homes on the afternoon (12:45-2:45) of Friday, December 13.  We will take a bus from school to the homes, and we welcome parent chaperones to join us.  If this sounds like something you would be willing/interested in doing, please send me an email.  Any donations of items from the list, should be at school in our classroom by Dec. 13.

Thanks in advance for your support of this mission!

Scholastic Book Fair AnnouncementsThe Scholastic Book Fair is coming to Rose Park just on time for Christmas!  Our class will be visiting the book fair on Tuesday, December 3, to create a wish list that your students will bring home to you.  Please look for it in your student’s backpack!  Then you can either:

 1.  Look over your child’s list and decide together which books to purchase. Send the list and cash or check made out to Holland Christian Schools back to school with your child who can visit the book fair during the school day to purchase the items agreed upon by you and your child. The Book Fair committee wants to be sure you know that all sales are final and no refunds will be issued. Also, be sure to include the 6% Michigan Sales Tax.

OR

 2.  Bring the wish list to school and purchase items yourself to keep the books a surprise for Christmas! (I’ll have my wish list there too in case you would like to bless our classroom with a book for Christmas…I’ve been told the Book Fair committee will even wrap it for you!)  Can’t make it into shop? You may also shop on-line at http://www.scholastic.com/bf/roseparkchristian and your purchases will still count towards our book fair totals.  There are many products on the website that are not at our fair, so if you are looking for a specific book, be sure to use the search feature.

If you would like to shop WITH your child here are the hours of the Book Fair or you can stop by school while we are making our lists.
