September 21, 2018
Testing out paper helicopters. We were looking for examples of friction and gravity.

One of my favorites moments happened at the end of the day on Thursday. We had a full day and I could tell they were exhausted from the heat, Wednesday night activities, and the work they had done in class. They beat me to the classroom and as I turned the corner into the room, there they all sat. Their chairs put away, quiet as mice, and smiling from ear to ear. I burst into a big smile and we all shared a laugh. They were so proud of themselves and the choice they had made, and in that moment a bit of community was built. A memory we could laugh about and remember later. They were proud of their efforts and I was overjoyed by their actions
