Testing out paper helicopters. We were looking for examples of friction and gravity.

One of my favorites moments happened at the end of the day on Thursday. We had a full day and I could tell they were exhausted from the heat, Wednesday night activities, and the work they had done in class. They beat me to the classroom and as I turned the corner into the room, there they all sat. Their chairs put away, quiet as mice, and smiling from ear to ear. I burst into a big smile and we all shared a laugh. They were so proud of themselves and the choice they had made, and in that moment a bit of community was built. A memory we could laugh about and remember later. They were proud of their efforts and I was overjoyed by their actions.

- Reading Minutes: Hand in previous reading minutes. A new reading paper will come home on Monday in their homework folder. This is due Oct. 1.

- Math Homework: Please have your child complete and return this paper by Friday, Sept. 28. Remember to circle and send back any problems that are too confusing to problem solve.

- Word Work - NO spelling words this week. We will be practicing our High Frequency words and some challenge words.

WALK-A-THON:

The Walk-a-thon event will happen on September 26 from 1:00-2:15 on the High School track. Parents are welcome to come and join us as we run, skip, sprint, dance, and walk around the track.

GRANDPARENT/FRIENDS DAY:

Grandparent/friend's Day will be Thursday, Oct. 4 from 1:30-3:15. There was an orange paper that came home today in the "Fish" Folder. Please pass on date and time to those who would love to join us in 3rd grade for the afternoon! Let me know if you need another note to pass along.

Word Lists - On Monday, I will email you with the spelling words for the week. This will allow each household to have a paper list and an electronic list!

Our class will have our pictures taken on Wednesday, Sept. 19th at 12:45. I sent home the form on Monday. Please fill out the form online or bring the form filled out, including the money, by Sept. 18.

New Student 

On Friday, our classroom community welcomed a new student and friend. Ella W. is new to our classroom and to the Rose Park family. The joy and excitement was overflowing from the students. They welcomed her with helping hands and a serving heart.

BIBLE MEMORY
*Please continue to practice Psalm 8 at home. We are working hard on this in the classroom and I am amazed to see the student's creativity with motions and effort to learn these words from God's Word.

HOMECOMING
This evening has become a family favorite, filled with good memories - even when it downpours! Picnic dinner and children's activities, including bouncy houses, lawn games, and crafts, start at 5 pm, then the varsity football game against Byron Center begins at 7. The cost is $8 per person in advance, including both dinner and game, and tickets are available online at hollandchristian.org/alumni or at the HCHS or HCS administration offices. Or it's $10 per person on the day of the event.
