April 17

Whew...It has been a while since I have updated the blog! But I am back. We are in the final quarter of our school year and this quarter always moves the fastest.

What are we learning:
Bible: We are wrapping up our unit on the initial kings of Israel and Judah. We will review on Tuesday for our test on Wednesday.
Writing: We are wrapping up our personal expertise writings. We will edit those pieces this week and a final copy will be sent home soon!
Reading: We have begun our Historical Fiction Book Club unit. The students are SO excited about this unit. We will be reading Number The Stars together as a class. In their book clubs, the students will be reading a historical fiction book that take place during World War II.
Math: We are nearing the end of our measurement unit. I hope to test on Friday. We will continue reviewing and practicing those final skills for our test.
Science: We have begun a new unit in Science. Mrs. VanderZwaag and I swap kiddos for the last hour of the day. She will be teaching them about Animal Adaptations and Survival.

Chapel: I came back from Spring Break and realized WE HAVE CHAPEL this week. WOW. Surprise!! I will be leading most of the chapel because of our time frame. Yet, the students will help me by leading the school in the Shema. We would love to have you join us for worship and hear the Word of the Lord. We begin around 10:50 and end at 11:15.

Barn Duties: We will have barn duties on Friday, April 21. Just a heads up for those who like to come prepared with a "barn chores" outfit.

Writing Celebration Snack: The fourth graders have finished their writing pieces and would like to celebrate! We will be gathering as a 4th grade on Monday, April 24. We are wondering if anyone is will to help get a snack and drink for our celebration? We have 45 students and 1 peanut allergy to be aware of. Please email me if this is something you can help out with.

Dutch Costumes/Gardener Outfits: The month of May is quickly approaching. In the next three weeks, please make sure those dutch costumes fit and they have "gardener" apparel ready to go. :)

Library Notice: The week of May 1-5 is the last week for students to borrow books from Rose Park's Library. All student library materials are due by May 12.

This week, we need to transplant our tomatoes into bigger containers. The kids worked for over and hour and a half on this project. I could NOT have done that without them.

Some of our girls lead us with motions in chapel.

Here are some pictures from the week before Spring Break!
- Beach Day and Math Escape Room
- Marble Roller Coaster Construction
- Root Beer Floats
- Planting our tomato seeds for the plant sale
