Praise God from whom all blessings flow... What a blessing it was to hear the praise of our students on Tues. night! It gave us chills to hear those voices raised in praise to God the Father!  It was wonderful to see generations gathered together to worship!

Poetry Reading:
Parents please join the second grade students on May 10 for a celebration of our Poetry Unit. Students will be sharing poems they have been working on over the last few weeks.  Our celebration will take place in the gym from 11:00-11:30am. We would love to see you there!

Tulip Time:
Tulip Time is coming quickly and we need your help. Students are bringing home a half sheet of bright green paper. Please read and return it to school by Friday, May 5. We need parent cell phone numbers in case an emergency arises while we are at the parade.

We will be marching in the Tulip Time kid's parade again this year on Thursday, May 11. Just wanted to send you a reminder that you might need to dig out the dutch costumes and see if they still fit! Side note: the students will be wearing gym shoes when they march--no wooden shoes needed! :) We'll have half days of school on May 10 & 11, but on the 11th your child will need to bring a sack lunch and we'll get ready for the parade, and head to our spot on the bus together (just like your child did in first grade). More details will be coming soon.

Important Dates:
May 1: Library books due
May 5 : Spelling test
May 10: 1/2 day of school Tulip Time

2nd graders visiting the Pet Shop
Happy Friday!  What a fantastic week we have had in second grade!  Kid Town has been a success and the students have enjoyed it immensely!  We have seen wonderful examples of generous spirits and students who are polite and caring business boys/girls and they have also been wonderful shoppers with a lot of patience. They have had a ton of fun learning about businesses and economics!  Thanks so much to all the parent helpers who came in and glued items together, helped with ideas, ran stores, and helped us pack things up!! We could not have done it without all of you!!  Your support is appreciated and we are so thankful for the wonderful, supportive community here at South Side!

We have such a creative class!
It's here and it's in action! Kid Town has been a hit this week! It's been so fun to see the students use their God-given gifts and talents to make and create things. What imaginations they have! We also had a neat opportunity to "tithe" from our Kid Town money. Again, one of the many reasons why we love this activity and our Christ-centered school! It was such a neat teaching experience!

Thank you to all of you who have already helped in the Kid Town area! It is a busy 2 weeks and we couldn't do it without you! We are blessed to have such supportive parents! Thanks for all you do!  There are still some open slots so please feel free to take what open opportunities you want.

A new packet of special Kid Town homework will come home today, Friday 14th. NOTE THAT ALL KID TOWN HOMEWORK IS OPTIONAL, but will be a big part of your child's "income."

This is the BIG week! We will have our town set up in the gym! This town will come alive from 2:00-3:00 each day. Please know that even if you didn't sign up to help, you are all welcome any time during the week to stop by and check it out! :)

PLEASE NOTE: WE WOULD LOVE ANY AND ALL HELP ONE WEEK FROM TODAY--FRIDAY, APRIL 21, RIGHT AFTER SCHOOL TO HELP CLEAN UP KID TOWN. ANY PARENTS THAT CAN COME AND LEND A HAND WOULD BE SO APPRECIATED! MANY HANDS MAKE LIGHT WORK!
