Well...that was a fantastic field trip! The students were so exhausted from their morning of play. They were very respectful to the workers and it was fun seeing them play together as a class. We had the whole museum to ourselves. Thank you to the parents who were able to join us for the morning. I hope you heard great stories from our time at the Grand Rapids Children's Museum.

March 6

On Wednesday, we had the opportunity to learn about the meaning of Ash Wednesday in chapel.
The time of Lent is to remember our brokenness and acknowledge the messiness of sin in our life. In the remembering, we draw near to God and seek Him. We were reminded of the story of Jesus' temptation and fasting in the desert. Jesus drew near to God.
At the end of the day, I offered the students the opportunity to place a cross on their hand or forehead as a reminder.
"In the messiness of our sin, draw to God."
I said this to each student as I drew a cross on their hand or forehead.
I pray that in the next 40 days of "normal" life, you will draw near to God.

What are we learning...

- Math - Learning about the role of fact families in story problems.

Reading/Writing - Creating a project that displays their learning of a specific topic that they have been reading about for the last 3 weeks.

Bible - The Israelites exodus out of Egypt and Moses' leadership in the wilderness

Science - The path of light and how light changes our world

MARCH is READING MONTH - WHITECAPS INCENTIVE: On Friday, your child received a flier from the West Michigan's Whitecaps baseball team. The organization is offering some tickets as a reading incentive. This incentive is in your hands. It does not need to be returned to the classroom. There are directions as to how you can sign up and register for the tickets.

PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES: It is that time of year again! Time for parent teacher conferences. I am changing it up a little bit from previous years. Usually your child will lead the conference, but with early spring break plans and needs to "reschedule"...I am changing it up.

Parents and I will meet for 15 minutes to celebrate the strengths of your child and talk about how they can grow as they move towards 4th grade expectations. Your child will record a small video sharing about their areas of strength in the classroom and where they believe they can grow and be challenged.
