Walk-a-thon was a success!

Thank you Card My Yard (Mary Thwaites) for the special signs!

Walk-a-thon Report: Wow! What a big day we had on Wednesday. Walk-a-thon is always a highlight for the students. They always want to stay longer and are sad to leave. We were able to hang out with all of the elementary and middle school students at HC. What an incredible image to see! Every child created and loved by God. Each one placed at Holland Christian to grow and learn more about how to be a disciple of Christ! Our pre-K-8th grade students raised over $70,000. This money will be divided amongst the schools and used for specific learning needs throughout the school year.

Homework: In 3rd grade, we practice responsibility for our work. Homework is included in that responsibility. On Monday, please make sure your child checks for their math homework and reading minutes. I will record those items in my grade book on Monday night.

Spelling: Spelling will FINALLY start next week. What does this mean for students? On Monday, your child will come home with a list of words. The words on this list practice a spelling pattern. During the week, the students are encouraged to practice these words by focusing on the pattern. They can sort the words and find ways to practice them. On Friday, I will test your child on 15 of the words from the original list. Graded tests will come home on Monday. A note explaining our spelling curriculum will come home on Monday with the first spelling list.

Here are some pictures from our week!

On Thursday afternoon, we spent time creating and playing with our kindergarten buddies. We used our imagination and spent time practicing how to play and create with others!

The woods have been a new place of exploration and problem solving! Some major forts have been constructed!

Here are some pictures from our Walk-a-thon. It is hard to take pictures of EVERY student. In a field of 500+ kiddos, it is a might of a scavenger hunt!

Riding a bus with 50+ kids is quite an experience!
When we first arrived at the field, we took an ALL schools picture.
