It was truly a blessing to go out on Wednesday night and spend $380 dollars donated for our Heart Family! Because of your child's or family's generosity, we were able to purchase every item on their wish list! YEA GOD! I had goose bumps as I saw all the items stacked on our classroom counter and read the students' encouraging notes written to the family. The Harned family was able to deliver the presents on Friday and pray over the family. Thankful for this specific opportunity where our children can practice what it looks like to be a disciple of Christ and share compassion and Christ's love with others. May we continue to search out and find more opportunities to be a disciple of Christ!!

TIS THE SEASON of BUSY
Because of the season we are in, we will not have any homework next week. We will be doing much review in the classroom and complete different activities. Enjoy ;)

Christmas Party:
We will have our Christmas Party on Wednesday, Dec. 20th from 12:45-2:15. We will NOT be trading presents, but instead playing games and doing some activities. I am looking for 1 more parent/grandparent to lead a station for 5 students. I have the games and activities prepared, and just need a helper to lead the station. If you are available to help, please email me and let me know. THANK YOU!

ACE Activities:
Today, your child came home with information about the ACE programs that are provided at Holland Christian. There are extra curricular opportunities for your children that happen after school at Rose Park. Read through the white packet for more information. The deadline for signing up started this week and space is limited!!
Personally, I might sign up for some myself :)

Christmas Music Show-n-tell:
Next week Thursday (Dec. 21), our students have the opportunity to share some Christmas music. Read through the green flier from Mrs. Stacey Rietman for more details about what music they may share. (This is NOT a requirement, just an opportunity :) )

On Wednesday afternoon, December 13, from 1:00 to 3:00, the 3rd graders will be putting together gingerbread houses. If you are willing and able to help with construction, please let me know via email, note, or text so that I can plan on your help. Because volunteers will be assisting small groups of students, we are asking that NO younger siblings be taken along. Thank you for understanding.

Please send in your donated items by MONDAY MORNING, Dec. 11th!

Christmas Giving Opportunity:
We have a student in our class that had a scary start to his life. Christian Harned was born with a heart defect and the family spent many days in the hospital. Yet, God had a plan for Christian and now he is a healthy and active 3rd grader. Share your Heart for the Holidays was named after the Harned's experiences. It was created to help families with children in the Heart Ward of the University of Michigan's Hospital, who will be or are admitted during the Christmas season. They are dedicated to giving those families love and comfort as they walk this lonely, long road.
This year, our class is going to partner with a young family from Kalamazoo. We have the opportunity to raise money and/or purchase presents for the family and write notes of encouragement for the parents.

Here is where I need your family's help!
A.  Donate $10 towards a gift for the children or gift card for the parents. (Cash or check written to Ms. Snoeyink. Then Jodi and I will go out and buy the remaining gifts.)

B.  Sign up to purchase specific gifts, requested by the family.

DUE: TUESDAY, Dec. 12
Whether it is doing extra jobs around the house, giving money from their piggy bank, or donating a personal present for someone else, I pray that this experience will be impactful and meaning for your child! A moment to practice what it looks like and feels like to be the hands and feet of Jesus.

Please check out their website for their whole story.

December 1, 2017

Prepare the way of the Lord!
I pray that this advent season, your family can ask and discuss how they can use their head, heart, hands, and feet to be a disciple of Christ and prepare the way of the Lord. We are a part of God's story, His children, and He equips those He calls!

Thank you:

This week had some events that asked for parent participation. Thank you for your purchases at the book fair and worshipping with us at chapel. I value those moments when I can talk and say more than a "Hi" in the hall. Your acts of appreciation and words of encouragement are blessings to me.

Gingerbread Houses:

On Wednesday afternoon, December 13, from 1:00 to 3:00, the 3rd graders will be putting together gingerbread houses.  Children will be taking home a gingerbread house of their very own. There are a couple items we need for this project. Please take a look at the sign-up genius for food and candy items to donate for construction.

Some years, parents bring along cake decorating equipment to help with the decorating portion of our project.  If you are so inclined, please consider sending that along. Most importantly, we are looking for as many volunteers as we can get to help with the construction. Because volunteers will be assisting small groups of students, we are asking that NO younger siblings be taken along. Thank you for understanding.

If you are willing and able to help with construction, please let me know via email, note, or text so that I can plan on your help.

Christmas Giving Opportunity:
We have a student in our class that had a scary start to his life. Christian Harned was born with a heart defect and the family spent many days in the hospital. Yet, God had a plan for Christian and he is a healthy and active 3rd grader now.  The experience affected them in more ways than their son’s now happily beating heart, and about six years ago the Harned’s decided to give back. Share Your Heart for the Holidays was named after the Harned’s experiences. It was created to help families with children in the heart ward of the University of Michigan hospital who will be admitted during Christmas. They are dedicated to giving those families the best holiday they can.
This year, our class is going to partner with a young family walking a similar path. We will raise money to buy a couple presents for the children in the family and write notes of encouragement for the parents. There are some details to be planned out still, so please stayed tune for an upcoming email with more specific information.
