Monday, March 9

Just a Note:

On Thursday and Friday of this week (March 12 & 13), I will be headed to a technology conference in Grand Rapids. This is an amazing opportunity for teachers and educators to learn about practical ways to implement technology into instruction and curriculum. I look forward to this time of learning. As a result, the students will have a guest teacher. They are in the hands of a good educator!

CONFERENCES:
If you have not yet signed up for conferences, please follow this link.  Conferences are March 23 and 25, and will be student-led, so plan to have your 4th grader with you, but please make arrangements for younger siblings during that 15 minute time slot.  This will be a special time for your 4th grader to have your undivided attention, as they have prepared some work they are proud of to share with you.  We look forward to spending this time with you!

Advance Notice:
On Wednesday March 25, the 4th graders will be spending the day in Lansing, visiting our state capitol as well as the Impressions 5 Science Museum.  Students will need to be at school by 7am that morning, so please plan accordingly (maybe arrange some carpools with other 4th graders in your area?).  We will be back in time for regular dismissal at the end of the day.  More details coming next week....

BODY SAFETY PROGRAM:
Please look for a letter coming home today from Children's Advocacy Center.  They will be presenting to our 4th graders on March 20 at 12:45.  You are welcome to stop by and sit in the back during the presentation if you would like to experience the presentation as well.

SWIMMING LESSONS:
We will be going to swimming lessons at the Holland Aquatic Center during the weeks of April 27-May 1, and May 11-15.  A permission slip came home on FRIDAY and needs to be signed and returned by next Friday, March 20 in preparation for our upcoming lessons.  You do not need to send in the $1 fee mentioned, as you already paid that with your student fees.

March is Reading Month!

We are offering an optional reading incentive to all students: Keep track of your usual March reading minutes on the WhiteCaps form (coming home Friday). Submit the voucher per instructions on the form for two free tickets to a WhiteCaps game!
