We have another great week behind us!
My favorite moment of the week happened on Friday during Bible. We read the story where God asks Abraham to sacrifice his only son, the one God had promised to him. As I read the story, I watched as the students' body language changed, the room became quiet, and some had tears in their eyes. These students were putting themselves in Abraham's place. They felt the pain and frustration of Abraham, yet recognize the true trust and faith Abraham had in God. When God's voice broke the silence in the story and in our room, I felt the atmosphere in the room change. Immediately, the students recognized the parallel story in the New Testament. They were connecting this moment of faith in the Old Testament to the moment of true sacrifice and mercy of Christ on the cross. Jesus was the true lamb! We serve a Christ who is the Lamb of God. The one sent as a true "I love you" from God. I loved seeing that truth come alive in the soul of those sitting at my feet.
