We have just completed our first 5 day week of the year. Can you believe it? Man. It was a bit of an adjust to do school for 5 days in a row. But we made it! We conquered the week.

What are we learning:

Bible: We are starting our unit on King Solomon and his reign in Israel.

Writing: We are wrapping up our persuasive essay unit and a final copy will be coming home soon.

Reading: We are learning about the different text structures found in informational text.

Math: We are coming to the end of our long division next week. Pay attention to the planner for a test date and look for a completed review packet in their backpack or folder.

Social Studies: Continuing to learn about the geography of the United States.

Barn Chores are always a highlight of our week.

Calling All Shoes: If you think of it in any of your newsletters, we are in need of some smaller gym shoes in the office to have as extras.  If any family has size 11, 12, 1 or 2 that they are looking to get rid of, the office will take them!

Swimming Lessons begin on Monday February 5th and will continue until the 16th: Please be aware of this schedule when making appointments for these few weeks. 

• 9:00-10:00--1st Grade 
• 10:00-11:00--2nd Grade
• 11:00-12:00--4th Grade
• 12:35-1:35--3rd Grade

Reminder: Winter clothes, art shirts, PE shoes  → As we enter the second half of our school year please remember to have appropriate gear for your children for the winter weather, an art shirt for art class, and tennis shoes that can be worn for PE. Thank you!

Spirit Week is coming February 12-15:

• Monday 12th : Pajama Day
• Tuesday 13th: Camo/Tie-Dye Day
• Wednesday 14th:  Heart/Red Day
• Thursday 15th: Maroon & White Day

Newspaper: If your family still gets a paper copy of the newspaper our Art students would love to help you recycle and use it for a project! Feel free to send with your child or drop off in the front office!

Share the Love: The Maroon and White Shop will be hosting the first annual "Share The Love" Shopping Event on Wednesday, February 7 from 8am - 5pm.  Come shop for the latest HC gear at the High School and 10% of all sales will go to Compassionate Heart in Zeeland.  The first 25 customers to make a purchase will receive a complimentary gift and our "Cool Beans" Coffee Cart will be serving complimentary coffee, tea, hot chocolate and refreshments!  It's an event you won't want to miss!
