Jan. 12

We had the opportunity to start our mornings this week with scripture! We spent 10 minutes every morning learning the words to Psalm 1. We listened to the scripture put to song, colored a piece of artwork that included the scripture, and moved to the words as we said them aloud. I am praising God for this amazing opportunity. Yeah God for what He is doing at Rose Park.

Fort building is the best! Core memories being made at recess.

Class Wish: Winter is officially here and it is time to play in the snow!! Looking at our classroom register full of wet gloves/mittens and hats we have been brainstorming on how we can dry our outdoor gear between recesses. We all know from experience it isn't fun to put wet gloves on. ðŸ˜¬ Last year I discovered this little gadget at a Goodwill. I purchased it and it works wonderfully. ðŸ˜ŠIf you would like to donate towards purchasing some for our classroom let me know. I would need about 5 of them. Please let me know if you have room in your amazon cart for one of these. Here is a link below to check it out! CLICK HERE to see Glove Dryer

Report Cards: On Friday, Jan. 19, your child will come home with their Report Card for Quarter 2. Please take time to read through the comments and celebrate their growth! If you have any questions, please send me an email! Our report cards use a 1-3 rating scale. This is how I view/use the scale.

3 - Meets or Exceeds Expectations - Student has mastered an understanding of the knowledge and skills expected.
2 - Progressing Towards Expectations - Student is adequately progressing towards mastery of the knowledge and skills expected.
1 - Minimal Progress Towards Expectations - Student has not yet demonstrated an understanding of the knowledge and skills expected.

*This explanation will be printed underneath the scores so that parents have an understanding of their students grades as well: Marks of “3” and “2” both indicate that a student is working within the expectation of his/her grade level. The difference is the level of independence and support a student needs to demonstrate mastery. The expectation is that most students will achieve a “3” by the end of the year for each grade level standard.

Swimming Lessons for 1st through 4th grade: All 1st-4th graders will be bused to the pool each day the weeks of February 5-February 16. Please be aware of this schedule when making appointments for these few weeks.

Personal Device Reminder: To our best ability at Holland Christian (preschool-12th grade), we are committing to restricting personal devices during the school hours. These devices distract students from learning and impede personal relationships. We ask for your cooperation and partnership in this policy.

  • Cell Phones

  • Smartwatches

  • Headphones or Earbuds

  • Personal Laptops

  • MP3-Players

  • Etc. (i.e. Any non-school issued personal technology)

If parents need to communicate with their student, they can send their student an email or call the office and get a note from the office.  Personal Technology items are not allowed to be used or visible during the time a student enters school until the final bell rings. If a student needs to use their phone, they must receive direct permission from a staff person to do so.
