Oct. 6

Thursday was such a special day! Thank you for establishing and valuing these amazing relationships. I loved seeing each one of my students being loved by their people!

Mrs. Snoeyink stopped by to be a bonus buddy.
She taught 5th grade at Maplewood Christian (previous South Side Elementary).

His mercies are new every morning.
Great is His faithfulness!

Bible - We just finished our study on the book of Ruth. My favorite part of the study is revealing the similarities between Boaz and Jesus as our Kinsman Redeemer!

Math - We are entering into a unit where we are learning to multiply two-digit numbers.  This is BIG work!  We are excited to be maturing into "big kids" math.

Reading - Next week we will celebrate our strong reading habits from our first unit and move into a unit where we analyze characters in the books we are reading.

Science - We learning about the patterns in waves relate to sound waves.

Writing - Our realistic fiction stories are full of creative events!  We still have some work to do on them yet though.  Hold tight for the final product in a few weeks.

Parent/Teacher Conferences - I'm greatly looking forward to celebrating your child at conferences.  Please be sure you have signed up for a time slot. Please look over my previous post about how to sign up!

MUSIC NOTE FROM MRS. BOER - We will begin playing recorders next week! Don't forget to remind your child to bring their recorder to class every time they have music beginning the week of October 9.

Think Energy: We just had our Think! Energy with SEMCO program on Thursday and your student is brought home a free energy efficiency kit to help you save energy and water unless you opted out.

- Please install the items you need and give things you cannot use to a friend or family member.

- Help us earn funds for classroom supplies by doing a short survey called the Home Energy Worksheet (HEW) used to improve the program. Please complete the HEW by (Friday, Oct. 13) by returning the paper to me or completing it online at https://thinkenergy.org/semco/hew with my ID number: 268470.

- There is a space on the HEW to provide your email address for a 10-15 minute survey by the program's evaluator. This information is optional.
If you fill it out, you will be will be entered into a drawing to win a $50 Amazon gift card! There will be one winner per registered teacher. The winning family will be notified via the adult email address provided on the HEW at the end of the semester.

- No kit? If you opted out of taking a kit, you can still benefit from the program. Do the energy audit from the program website at https://thinkenergy.org/semco/audit.

An Invitation: Rose Park Fall Festival! Take a peek here for the exciting details! Thank you to our parent team for helping us celebrate our beautiful new playscape and ranch! Please sign up for your family to attend!

Safety and Security - Holland Christian is implementing consistent security measures for all K-12 students. (Preschool will continue their drop off and pick up as previously notified). Now that school has been underway for six weeks, we are asking parent/student drop off and good-bye to take place at the front door. By October 9, we hope that all children will be able to navigate their way from the front door to their classroom. Teachers and staff will be readily available to support and cheer our independent students to their lockers and classrooms. This measure is important so that we do not have unknown or unexpected visitors accessing our buildings. This safety measure is consistent throughout all of our buildings. You’re still welcome inside as needed, please stop in at the office for a check in and name badge. Thank you for your understanding. If you have questions or concerns, please connect with Miska at mrynsburger@hollandchristian.org or Katelyn at kroskamp@hollandchristian.org

Photo retakes are October 25 - if your child will need retakes add that date to your calendar.

An Invitation:  HC Youth Youth Volleyball Night  Join us as we cheer on our HC Varsity volleyball team as they play against Coopersville.  Tuesday, October 17 at 6:00 PM in the HC High School gym.  Go Maroons!! (Child gets in free with paid adult or adult sports pass)
TRIP:  If you have friends or family who are interested in learning about TRIP, or if you have more detailed questions about the program, we will be having another informational meeting on October 12 at 6:30 in the HS Media Center.
