May 6

Our plant sale is right around the corner! Time to make some posters!

On Thursday, we took time to talk about prayer. It was National Day of Prayer and we need to practice how to pray. We learned different styles of prayers. We learned how to talk to God through journaling. It was amazing to watch these kiddos stop and just talk with God. What a gift!

We spent an afternoon with our Kindergarten buddies. In honor of Earth Day, we spent time designing a bird's nest, making worms in dirt, creating bird feeders, and reading about God's creation to our buddies. Amazing to see their relationships grow.

Our 1st Grade buddies delivered their maple syrup to our classroom.
The siblings needed a picture together. :)

Transportation Update: On Thursday, May 11, school will be in session on a half day schedule due to the Tulip Time Kinderparade. Buses will run in the AM ONLY. There will be no shuttle or route buses running after school. Students will need to find alternate transportation home on this day.

From Our Parent Board: Teacher Appreciation week is upon us and that means time to thank our teachers!! Parent Board is planning on Donuts on Monday May 8, hosting a teachers lunch for them on Wednesday May 10, hydrating them on Thursday for parade day and blessing them with Biggby coffee on Friday. Tuesday we are leaving it up to the students to shower their teachers with cards and love and a small gift if they chose! If there is anything you can grab or wouldn't mind picking up that would be so helpful!! Please have all the Lunch items to school by Wednesday morning, cold things can go in the fridge in the staff lounge (just label it:) ) You parents are amazing!

BIBLE TEST: Looks like Wednesday will be the day!  The kids will bring home a study sheet on Tuesday to help them prepare.

MATH TEST: We are pushing through these final units as the end of the year approaches us. We will review on Monday for the test and take the test on Tuesday.

TULIP TIME INSTRUCTIONS: First of all, there is no hot lunch offered on Thursday, so please be sure your child has a lunch from home that day.  Remember that their back pack will be staying at school until Friday, so don't put anything in it that can't stay overnight.  Secondly, please plan to meet our class on the grass of Kollen park ACROSS THE STREET FROM the fire station this year.  The students will need to first put their props in the trailer and then we will gather as a group in the grass on the Kollen Park side of 11th street.  Please make sure your child checks out with me and has their green "ticket-to-go" from me before you take them away (that is the form you filled out and turned in to me about who is picking them up at the end of the parade).  That helps me know for sure that each child was handed off to a safe adult.  Thank you for your cooperation!

LIBRARY BOOKS: All library books are due back by Friday, May 12, as the library staff needs time to reorganize and track down missing items.  Thanks so much!

MAP testing next two weeks.  Please try to keep your child well rested, and limit unnecessary absences.  Thank you.

The Lucas Project: Dear Rose Park Families,
We have the opportunity to bless and support area special needs families through a joint project by two local nonprofits: thelucasproject.org and A Kid Again. The Lucas Project was begun by one of our new Rose Park families and Ms. Scott's class will be helping to pack these care packages on June 1. Any gifts, either purchased through the Amazon Wish List or monetary donations given at https://thelucasproject.org  website, will be welcomed and used to encourage caregivers of special needs and their entire family. What a wonderful way to share God's love with others as we end our school year. Please see the attached flyer for additional information.
Melanie Scott (2nd grade teacher)
