October 8, 2021

As we ended our math unit, the students made their own math board games. They were so excited and even got to play each other's games.

Happy Birthday Ava! Thank you for the yummy suckers.
May you shine bright for God!

A Peek Into Our Learning:

Math: Starting multiplication and division! Working on our 5x facts first

Bible: Starting a new unit where we look at the stories from Genesis 3-11.

Reading: Building strong reading habits and sharing our habits with others

Writing: Working on leads and editing strong stories

Science: Learning about friction and gravity

Classroom Details:

Report Cards: On Friday, you will receive your child's first report card for the school year. Many of the standards are measured with the number scale of...

3 - Mastered (above) - They have mastered the skill and can perform if asked.
2 - Proficient (on track) - They are growing in the skill and their learning is on track for 3rd grade.
1 - Progressing (growth needed) - They are consistently struggling to preform the skill on their own and this skill is an area of growth.

Outdoor Learning: On Wednesday afternoon, we will be headed to Riley Trails for an afternoon of learning and playing with our Kindergarten buddies. We have been welcomed to make a stop at the Persenaire's house :). Please make sure your child has the right clothes to play in the woods and shoes for a walk.

Socializing & Snacks: All 3rd graders parents are welcome to a little gathering at Quincy Park on October 11th from 9AM-10:45AM. Little siblings are welcome to join while the parents get to know each other.

Parent Teacher Conferences: Parent Teacher Conferences are coming up and mighty fast. This year we will be offering in-person conferences. Parent/s and I will meet in our classroom for 15 minutes and talk about the strengths and areas of growth for your child. Please put these dates on the calendar.

Monday, Oct. 18 from 4:00-8:00

Tuesday, Oct. 19 from 4:00-8:00

How to Sign Up - On September 28, you received an email about Parent Teacher Conferences and how to sign up. You will need to sign up with Ms. Snoeyink for a 15 minutes slot. The sign up window will be open until on October 15 at 3pm.

Here is how you can go about signing up for conferences.

  1. Go to HC Virtual Paragon, our conference reservation system.
  2. “Holland Christian’s Master Password” is gohc (all lowercase).
  3. “Login with an account you created previously or create an account by clicking the “Create New User Name” button. If you didn’t participate in conferences last year, you will need to create a new account.
  4. Once logged in, select "Making Reservations."
  5. Select all of the teachers with whom you want conferences by clicking the box next to each teacher's name. Be sure you have the correct teacher in the correct building, since many of our teachers work in more than one building.
  6. Scroll to the bottom and click “Continue.”
  7. Reserve the times you want by clicking the box in the available time slots. The number of time slots you sign up for vary by grade level:
    1. High School & Middle School: 5 minute reservations for any teacher. You may use two 5 minute reservations (a 10 minute conference) for no more than one teacher.
    2. Elementary K-5th grade: 15 minute reservations with each teacher.
  8. Press “SAVE/DONE” button when you are finished making all of your reservations.
  9. In the next window, associate each reservation with a specific student by clicking “Edit.”
  10. You have now reserved your conferences! If you have difficulty, feel free to email vp_support@hollandchristian.org or you may call your school's office for assistance.

From the office: Our supportive parent team has put together a sign up genius to help fuel our hard working teachers and keep them energized for conferences. Please consider joining in the "feed our teachers" effort: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0D4FA5A92AA1FD0-parent1
