May 16

The plants are GROWING fast!
PLANT SALE - Our plant sale is scheduled for Thursday, May 22.  It will begin at 7:30am and plants will continue to be available until they run out, or the end of the school day whichever comes first.  We will be selling tomato plants, pepper plants, and a variety of herbs for $3.00 per pot. Please spread the word to friends and family if they are interested in picking up a few plants for their garden!  Please spread the word to all your family, friends, neighbors, church people, etc. - we're hoping for a BIG crowd! Remember CASH or CHECK only.

Each student will be assigned a "shift" to work, and I will need ONE MORE student who can be to school early on that Thursday morning (7:30).  If you are able to get your student dropped off at 7:25 on Thursday, please let me know and I will plug them into that first shift slot.  Thank you!

Two other plant sale requests:
1.  Each child should bring a lawn chair or blanket to use that morning as their outdoor learning space while they are not "working" the plant sale.
2.  If you have any boxes laying around that we could use to package up our customers' purchases, we will gladly accept those anytime next week.  Thank you!

Band or Orchestra: There is a note from Mr. Nester and Mr. Veenstra in your child's Friday folder. It is regarding 5th grade band, music, and orchestra. Your child will need to select their choice of band, orchestra, or music. Then they need to select their top 3 instrument choices. This form needs to be returned by Thursday, May 22th.

Writing Celebration:
We are celebrating the conclusion of our information writing unit. We would like to celebrate with a treat on Friday, May 23. If you are willing to provide some gluten free popsicles for 54 kids, please email me and let me know.

Library notice: All student library materials are due by May 16.

Half-day Dismissal: Due to the Tulip Time Kinderparade, there will be no afternoon transportation Thursday, May 8, including all shuttle services and HPS transportation. Students who are NOT participating in the parade will need to find alternate transportation home with school dismissal taking place at 11:30. If your student is marching, families will need to pick up their students at the end of the parade route.

From Mrs. Rietman: Recorder karate is off to a great start, and I'm hoping to see some more participation in the coming weeks. Please click on this link for all the resources your student will need.  It contains a list of songs, links to all the demo videos, and the recorder music for each belt.

A quick glimpse at our trip to Lansing and the Impressions 5 Museum

It was a BIG DAY!

Notes from the Office:
  1. Swimming Lessons Our Holland Aquatic Center is providing swim lessons for us again this year! I recognize this program is new for some children and families. Because our children are blessed to be raised in Michigan, surrounded by bodies of water, we believe this safety instruction is a blessing that we pray they will never need but feel responsible to equip them. If you find yourself pondering over the “why” of lessons, please take a listen to HC mom Jenny White on the why for swim safety. HCAC Swim School welcome video will help you understand a bit about the logistics. Our 1st-4th graders will be bused to the pool each day the weeks of April 14-25. Students

  • 9-10am: 1st Grade

  • 10-11am: 4th Grade

  • 11am-12pm: 2nd Grade

  • 12:35-1:35pm: 3rd Grade

  1. Scholastic Book Fair:  New books to encourage your student's love for reading are coming April 23-25 from 11 am. 4 p.m. at the Intersection in Rose Park!  Every dollar you spend will benefit our school library! This is our only fundraiser to add new books to the library. Last year our library gained 300 new books because of this fundraiser!

  • Book Fair eWallet is a convenient digital payment account, so your child can shop the fair cash-free. You can sign up for an eWallet on the Book fair website

  • Donations can also be made directly to the  Rose Park Library Fund.  Once you reach the Holland Christian Donation Page scroll

down to “Custom Designation” and choose “other.”  Then type in “Rose Park Library Fund”.

                  Thank you for your support!
